Our proposal was selected to be in the Top 10 Finalists out of 137 teams worldwide
The hackathon challenge brief was to design the onboarding process for a smart collar solution for dog owners–how to set up collar and how to set up both the dog and the user’s profile.

The Challenge
Dog parents need peace of mind that their pets can be found quickly and efficiently if they wander away from home. The American Humane Association estimates that 1 out of 3 pets become lost at some point in their lifetime and according to the Coalition for Reuniting Pets and Families, less than 23% of lost pets in the U.S. are reunited with their owners.
Problem Statement
How might we give pet owners peace of mind on the safety and security of their dog’s well-being and help reunite any lost dogs with their worried owners as quickly as possible?
Research
Affinity Mapping and Feature Brainstorming
We collaborated on Zoom, to brainstorm potential features for the app- performing affinity mapping & voting on prioritizing the features to be implemented.

Ideation
User Flow
Based on our affinity mapping, we charted out a User Flow for the following tasks:

- User Account Creation
- Dog Profile Setup

Wireframing
Lo-Fidelity Wireframing
As a team, we came up with lo-fidelity sketches for different screens based on our task flow. We then collaborated to combine the screens/ best feature to design in high fidelity prototyping.
Branding & Identity
Custom Illustration & Logo
We worked on Illustrating a key 'mascot' to guide the user through the process, and make it more engaging and fun.

Style Guide
We researched the UI style of Leverege, and drew inspiration from their simple, bright, playful colors to design and brand the Bark app interface.
Hi-Fidelity Wireframing
We applied our Style Guide to the Lo-Fidelity Mockups, and split up the screens per project member due to the short time frame. We designed the onboarding, homepage, as well as dog profile pages.
Hi-Fidelity Prototype
We fixed the minor UI and visual design issues discovered through usability testing and spent most of our time working on prototyping the onboarding process since this was such a critical piece of our value proposition.

I really, really loved the way this team not just presented the work but how they displayed the final protoype. Thinking through alot of the small details that a user may face while onboarding and using the app. Great use of thought process.

Next Steps
We had a great time working on this challenge, coming up with the layout, branding and tone, app features and working together as a team.
